Switch® supports Governor Greg Abbott’s standards for responsible data center growth in Texas. Governor Abbott’s prioritization of grid reliability, ratepayer protection, transparency, and responsible resource use is closely aligned with Switch’s longstanding Responsible by Design™ approach.
Switch has been responsibly designing, building and operating data centers for decades and joined the Texas technology ecosystem in 2021, with campuses in Austin, Houston, and Round Rock. In Round Rock alone, Switch has committed to more than $250 million in local investment and entered a long-term economic development agreement with the city that generates tax revenues benefiting residents through 2037. Switch supports renewable energy generation by offsetting its electricity consumption through the purchase of renewable energy credits (RECs), operates with a commitment to responsible water use, funds its own energy and infrastructure costs so they are not passed on to ratepayers, and works with communities to reduce impacts on neighboring property owners and communities, including noise mitigation, light controls, setbacks, traffic improvements, emergency response coordination, and other community protection measures.
