The World’s Most Advanced Data Centers, Built for Resiliency
Switch’s intelligent and sustainable data center designs enable the industry’s highest-rated resiliency to deliver 100% uptime. The ability to effectively identify and manage operational and environmental risk is fundamental to Switch’s core business and its reputation. This is why Switch purpose-builds its data centers to enable full control of building design and modular construction with highly advanced protections against severe weather events and unanticipated disruptions. Switch’s
resilient data center designs feature patented technologies for redundant power, continuous cooling and mitigation against climate risk.
Resilient data centers with patented power distribution, continuous cooling and protection from climate risk.
1. REDUNDANT DATA CENTER ROOFING SYSTEM: Switch SHIELDTM
Switch’s patented data center roofing system with dual 200 mph rated roofs made of solid steel for unpenetrated, watertight and airtight protection, is designed to mitigate extreme weather conditions. The system allows perpetual repair and replacement of the roof components without exposing the gear beneath or interrupting critical system operations.
2. CONTINUOUS COOLING TECHNOLOGY: Switch ROTOFLY®
Switch’s Rotofly system uses 2,000 pounds of rotary flywheels to provide extended runtime for each HVAC unit. In the event of a power outage, this capability ensures that the cooling units will continue to move air through the data halls.
3. UNINTERRUPTABLE POWER SUPPLY: Switch W.D.M.D. (Wattage Density, Modular Design)
Switch’s highly efficient data center ecosystem features three separate N+2 color-coded power systems for delivering 100% uptime. Additionally, the facilities have full power backup systems with redundant utility feeds, full-site battery capacity and onsite backup generation to recharge the batteries if needed over a long period of time.
