Union Switch & Signal: A Pillar of Pittsburgh Industry
Union Switch & Signal began its operations in the dynamic industrial center of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Over the past century, both Pittsburgh and Union Switch & Signal have transformed from heavy industry to advanced technology. This transformation is perfectly symbolized by our headquarters which is conveniently located less than two miles from the downtown business district.
Our Systems & Research Center was built in 1995 on the north shore of the Monongahela River in Pittsburgh. Once the site of a giant steel-making operation and the renowned Eliza blast furnace, the land has been reclaimed and redeveloped as the Pittsburgh Technology Center, with high-technology research and production facilities, public plazas, tree-lined river access paths, and a river walk. Our aluminum and glass facility is equipped with videoconference rooms, over 600 workstations connected by a million feet of copper wire, and robots that deliver the mail.
